How to Calculate Markup for Interior Design Quotations

Markup is the amount added to your cost to determine the selling price. For Malaysian interior designers, the standard markup rate is 25% to 40%, depending on project complexity and market positioning.

Markup Formula (Markup on Cost)

Selling Price = Cost × (1 + Markup%)

Margin Formula (Margin-based)

Selling Price = Cost / (1 - Margin%)
